What Millionaire Knows

Bill Gates

“If you don’t build your dream, someone else will hire you to build theirs.”

He’s been the richest man in the world for decades, but there was a time when he, like so many, had nothing. He’s a college dropped out who liked to play around with computers, and he built a technological empire that forever change the world. So if he could do it, why can’t you? Actually, you can. Get your thinking on the same frequency as Bill Gates and you’ll start to see amazing changes in a short time.

You either have people working for you, or you work for someone. It really is that simple. A job will allow you to survive. If you want more from life, you need to do more for yourself.

“I think it’s fair to say that personal computers have become the most empowering tool we’ve ever created.”

Stepping into the unknown can often be a scary thing. Most people hold on tight to what they’ve got and turn away from new. This is born instinct that needs to be banished.

“People always fear change.”

To grow, you need to embrace change, step towards what seems difficult or new, and to a degree take a risk and invest some time and effort on a dream.

 Steve Jobs

“My favorite things in life don’t cost any money. It’s really clear that the most precious resource we all have is time.”

One of the most innovative and creative men of our time never bothered to finish college, but somehow managed to change the world as we know it.

From a garage to global success. So what made him so special? Most people tend to watch television, surf the net, or immerse themselves in social media, but what if you chose to use that time more constructively. What if there was a way to expand your knowledge and make money during those fleeting hours?

“What a computer is to me is the most remarkable tool that we have ever come up with. It’s the equivalent of a bicycle for our minds.”

Building a company takes time. Renting an office, hiring employees, licenses, the list is long and the monthly costs can be astronomical, not to mention a sizable starting investment that offers no guarantees.

On the other hand, the online world works much faster and you don’t need much to get started.

“Your time is limited, so don’t waste it living someone else’s life. Don’t be trapped by dogma—which is living with the results of other people’s thinking. Don’t let the noise of others’ opinions drown out your own inner voice. And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition.”

Those  afraid of change have a habit of telling others not to try new things. They don’t want to try it, so you shouldn’t either… they say! The next time an opportunity presents itself, don’t run away, embrace it, hold on to it like your life depends on it, master it, and reap the rewards that comes from courage and diligence.

Richard Branson

“Most people would assume my business success, and the wealth that comes with it, brought me happiness. But I know I am successful, wealthy, and connected because I am happy.”

Yet another dreamer who took a risk on the unknown more than once. He started with nothing, and ignored everyone who told him he would fail, so what is it that makes Branson able to go where so few have dared to go?

One of the hardest concepts is feeling and acting successful before you actually are. You need to walk and talk like you’ve already reached your goal. By being happy and confident as you step into the unknown, you will attract support from people who would otherwise ignore you.

“My philosophy is that if I have any money I invest it in new ventures and not have it sitting around. You’ve got to take risks if you’re going to succeed. I would much rather ask forgiveness than permission.”

Without risk there can be no reward. saving pocket change for the future amounts to keeping a piggy-bank. Your money won’t work, but you will… all the way to the end. If you want to make a significant change in your life you’re going to have to step out of your comfort zone and try something new.

Mark Zuckerberg

“I think a simple rule of business is, if you do the things that are easier first, then you can actually make a lot of progress.”

Everyone has a good idea or two in their lifetime, but those who act on it with conviction step into a future of wealth, comfort and security. Zuckerberg took a simple project and changed human social behavior more than any other person in history.  Take on the harder things later when you are more familiar with the environment.

“People think innovation is just having a good idea but a lot of it is just moving quickly and trying a lot of things.”

Inventors, scientists, and entrepreneurs all share one thing in common – they know failure. If things you’ve tried in the past didn’t work out for you, you at least learned from the experience.

“In a world that’s changing really quickly, the only strategy that is guaranteed to fail is not taking risks.”

Give the minimum, get the minimum. Do nothing, get nothing. Taking decisive action is the first requirement that every single winner in the world will tell you is the beginning of success.

There are thousands of people who had a good idea, but did nothing about it, only to later see someone profiting from the same idea. Next time you see something that can enrich your life, don’t look for reasons why not. Look for a way to be good at it, the best, then get busy growing your knowledge and bank account.

Jack Ma

“If you’ve never tried, how will you ever know if there’s any chance?”

Jack Ma changed his environment and created opportunity that has become a worldwide sensation and changed an entire nations GDP overnight.

“It’s very difficult to know the outside world, but you know yourself. You know your need and what you want. If I know myself better, I can change myself to meet the outside world.”

The world you know is a mirror of who you are and what you know. You socialize with people like you, work with people like you. The people around you are scared of new ideas, and will avoid anything unfamiliar.

If you change what you do, the world around you changes. Don’t try to change your circumstances, you will only get disappointed.

Increase your own worth, and the rewards will follow.

“The very important thing you should have is patience.”

The first step is to act. Don’t think about it, don’t say ‘maybe tomorrow’. Act. Once you are committed to achieving a worthy goal you need to stay busy,

keep advancing, and have a lot of patience. Dreams take time, big dreams take more than we’d like, but this only happens if, as Nike says you “just do it”.

Take the first step and then commit to mastery and you will make your dreams come true eventually.

Larry Page

“You know what it’s like to wake up in the middle of the night with a vivid dream? And you know that if you don’t have a pencil and pad by the bed, it will be completely gone by the next morning. Sometimes it’s important to wake up and stop dreaming. When a really great dream shows up, grab it.”

A kid with a dream went through trials and tribulations and now dominates the information industry with a bizarre company name that everybody knows.. Google. A self-proclaimed normal guy, Larry Page made billions from nothing, even though everyone he knew told him he wouldn’t be able to. Why can’t we all do it?

Small ideas are here today, gone tomorrow. They weigh nothing and return nothing. Dreaming big gives visions of an amazing shift in your quality of life. Those attractive images of the future will fuel you through the hard times.

Finding the right idea sometimes takes time and patience. The world might stick in your face exactly what you need, exactly when you need it. Are your eyes open to new possibilities?

“Invention is not enough. Tesla invented the electric power we use, but he struggled to get it out to people. You have to combine both things: invention and innovation focus, plus the company that can commercialize things and get them to people.”

Just like the unique teeth of a key, it takes a specific combination of actions, planning, motivation, and creativity to hit the jackpot.

Working hard won’t bring you wealth. Gardeners work hard, cleaners too. An idea is worth nothing without the action and willpower to believe and Conceive it. Everything has to be just right. Becoming more than you are now is the key.

You need to learn about anything and everything that will appear on your path to wealth. If you can’t learn it, partner with or hire someone who can.

“If you look at history, things do change, and if your business is static, you’re likely to have issues.”

While this is very true for businesses, it is also true for individual people. Even if you think your life is good now, the world has a habit of changing overnight and pulling the rug from under your feet. Make sure you change with the times, and have more than one option when the rain falls.
