Just about every business coach and motivational trainer will tell you, if you think like Warren Buffet, and walk and talk like Warren Buffet, you will have the same lifestyle as Warren Buffet… eventually. The is a lot of conjecture about this theory, since the world has changed so much in the last thirty years.
The only way to truly know if there is wisdom in the theory is to try it for yourself. The general estimate states that a significant change in the quality of your life will take 5 to 7 years if you go solo. 2 to 3 years if you have a partner.
So here are ten things to think and do, every day, for the next 5 years.
“You are very lucky if you find a passion in life. You cannot guarantee that you will find it from the first job.” Warren Buffett
If you don’t love what you do, you’ll never make it to the top. As soon as the going gets tough, it becomes easier to quit and try something else. Mastery takes time, patience, and passion. Do what you do best, the money will follow.
Stick To What Suits You
“I’m good in some areas, and just focus on these.” Warren Buffett
A penguin is slow and awkward on land, but they swim with speed and grace. Expand in areas that suit your skills. Find out in what you excel then become the best.
Manage Your Time
“My guess is everyone has effective working methods that fits their personality and capacity.” Warren Buffett
Make a grid. 7 x 24. Shade out your sleep habits, color in you work hours and travel time. Add duties such as cleaning and shopping. Try to bunch those activities together. Don’t get groceries on Monday and do laundry on Tuesday. Do both on Monday and free up your Tuesdays. Once you have blocks of free time, assign tasks that will advance your growth and progress. Week by week, keep doing that.
Learn, Learn, Learn
“I just read, read and read, I read about 5 or 6 hours a day.” Warren Buffett
Your personal environment is a reflection of who you are and what you know. If you expand your knowledge you create more opportunities, which eventually leads to a higher income and a better quality of life.
If It Ain’t Broke
Follow the habits of successful people, dress like them, walk like them, talk like them, work like them, think like them, and you too will be successful by default.
Lose The Losers
“Three important things in recruitment. Look for people with integrity, intelligent and energetic. If one person does not have the first two factors then the last element will kill him.” Warren Buffett
It’s one thing to be good, but if you surround yourself with amazing people, you will get amazing results. Ambitious people crave the thrill of the result. Breaking records, doing the impossible. The rest give the minimum, and get the minimum.
Monitor Your Mindset
“I believe in learning from history. I like to study the failure.” Warren Buffett
Nobody likes to fail, but we learn from our mistakes. Failures are stepping stones across a treacherous river. If you are not prepared to fail, then you will never try. Not trying is the only real failure in life.
Giving Is Getting
“I think there is no power greater than the power of unconditional love.” Warren Buffett
Create a network of contacts who can support you in the future. Giving now without condition will get you earn you favors in the future when you most need them. It’s rather like tennis, if you never give the ball, how can you get anything back. No game, no players, just you holding onto a ball.
According to Warren Buffet, the ten suggestions you just read were primary in his success. Now you know what to do, the only questions is… will you do it?
